Suicide prevention training for LGBTIQA+ leaders

Empowering LGBTIQA+ leaders to respond to mental health crisis in our communities

Suicide Prevention Program Banner

Thanks to generous funding from Wellbeing SA, we provided subsidised mental health and suicide prevention training to South Australian LGBTIQA+ community leaders.

LGBTIQA+ South Australians are experiencing a perfect storm in relation to mental health and suicide prevention.

Homophobia and discrimination puts us at higher risk of depression, anxiety and self-harm, yet the limited availability of LGBTIQA+ inclusive mental health services leaves the responsibility for suicide prevention to community leaders without the vital training required to safely respond to mental health crisis.

We’re working to break this cycle by providing South Australian LGBTIQA+ volunteer community leaders with subsidised mental health and suicide prevention training to reduce the rates of depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicidal ideation experienced in our communities.
