SA Rainbow Advocacy Alliance (SARAA) is the charitable peak body dedicated to uplifting LGBTIQA+ South Australians and the sector that supports us.
Our membership program drives coordination and collaboration between organisations, individuals, communities, and allies working for a healthier, safer, and more inclusive South Australia for LGBTIQA+ communities.
Our advocacy is at its most powerful when it’s amplified by the collective voices of LGBTIQA+ South Australians and allies with a broad range of perspectives, lived experiences, and expertise. Becoming a SARAA member gives you a say in decisions that impact LGBTIQA+ South Australians – and strengthens our ability to push for lasting change.

Individual members
Individuals who support the vision and values of the South Australian Rainbow Advocacy Alliance.
Fees are based on what you can afford. We suggest a fee of $30 per year, and encourage you to pay what you can.
You’ll gain access to subsidised training, networking events, and the right to vote and help shape policy for LGBTIQA+ South Australians.
Organisation members
Not-for-profit organisations and community groups who actively work to promote the health, safety, inclusion and wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ South Australians.
Fees are based on your organisation’s annual revenue.
Organisations receive public promotional visibility, sector and policy updates, funding advice, and subsidised training, along with networking and voting rights for eligible members.
Associate members
Businesses, government bodies and decision makers who support the vision and values of the South Australian Rainbow Advocacy Alliance.
Fees are based on your organisation’s annual revenue.
Associates get public promotional visibility, sector updates, funding advice, and access to training and networking events.
Free membership for grassroots LGBTIQA+ community-controlled organisations in South Australia
SA Rainbow Advocacy Alliance membership is free for LGBTIQA+ community controlled not-for profit organisations and community groups in South Australia with an annual revenue of less than $100,000.
Being LGBTIQA+ community-controlled means your group is:
- founded, governed and operated by and for LGBTIQA+ people
- based within those communities
- delivering services that build strength of LGBTIQA+ communities
- accountable to its LGBTIQA+ members.
Not all LGBTIQA+ community-led organisations will focus on all LGBTIQA+ communities. For example, some organisations may or may not focus on targeted populations, such as people with innate variations of sex characteristics.
Benefits for individuals
As an individual member, you’ll get the opportunity to:
- Connect with a like-minded community at regular events
- Shape SARAA’s policy positions and advocacy initiatives within SA and nationally, driving positive impact for LGBTIQA+ South Australians
- Vote at general meetings and stand for election to SARAA’s Board
- Receive regular e-newsletters featuring information on sector-relevant training, research, events, and opportunities
- Access subsidised events and training opportunities
Benefits for organisations
As an organisation or associate member, you’ll get the opportunity to:
- Get listed on the public member directory and share your work with LGBTIQA+ South Australians
- Promote your work to over 150 members via SARAA’s social media and newsletters
- Receive regular updates on legislative changes, policy developments, state/national advocacy, events, and sector research
- Access subsidised training and event opportunities for your team.
- Gain access to advice and support for fundraising and applying for grants.
- Express views on SARAA’s policy direction and advocacy work. Full Organisation Members (not-for-profits/community groups) can appoint a voting representative for general meetings and AGMs. (Note: Associate Members receive meeting invitations without voting rights).
Membership fees
Individual member fees are based on what you can afford. We suggest a fee of $30 per year, and understand this may not be possible for everybody.
Organisation and associate member fees are based on your organisation’s annual revenue and community controlled status.
Membership is free for LGBTIQA+ community controlled not-for profit organisations and community groups in South Australia with an annual revenue of less than $100,000.
All other organisations fees are:

Membership fees are GST inclusive.
Terms and conditions
By becoming a SARAA member you’re stating you understand and agree to all the below terms:
- You support SARAA’s vision for LGBTIQA+ South Australians to thrive in an inclusive society where we experience optimal health, safety, inclusion, equity, and equality.
- You support SARAA’s vision and mission as outlined in our Constitution.
- You agree to act in a manner consistent with SARAA’s Code of Conduct.
- You agree to pay the relevant membership fee, if applicable.
- Your membership application will be reviewed by SARAA’s Board who may accept or refuse your application at its discretion. If your application is refused, any fee you paid will be reimbursed and reasons for refusal of your application may be provided on request.
- Your membership category will be determined at the discretion of SARAA’s Board.
- Your membership is valid from the date it’s approved by the SA Rainbow Advocacy Alliance Board until the end of financial year.
- Your membership may be revoked by an absolute majority of the Board, for example if you act in a manner prejudicial to SARAA’s interests.
