In October 2021 the Department for Infrastructure and Transport released the South Australian Public Transport Diversity and Inclusion Framework (2021-2026) for public consultation.
We were deeply disappointed to see the Framework makes little to no meaningful mention of the needs of LGBTIQA+ South Australians, despite our communities continuing to experience discrimination, harassment, violence and assault in public spaces.
We made a submission calling on the Department to create a safer and more inclusive public transport system by:
- providing LGBTIQA+ inclusivity training for your staff
- creating guidelines for staff on how to support LGBTIQA+ commuter
- developing targeted safety and inclusion campaigns on public transport services.
