LGBTIQA+ Lived Experience Community of Practice

The LGBTIQA+ Lived Experience Community of Practice is a peer-led network designed specifically for LGBTIQA+ people working in designated lived experience and peer roles (both paid and voluntary) in South Australia.

Originally co-designed and launched by the Mental Health Coalition of SA (LEWP) under the Adelaide PHN Suicide Prevention Capacity Building Project, this vital community has transitioned to its new home here at SARAA, with the same peer facilitators continuing to guide and facilitate the space.

Why This Space Exists

Working in lived experience roles is incredibly rewarding, but it can also be isolating. Our CoP aims to:

  • Provide a platform for skill sharing and professional development.
  • Foster community building and mutual support.
  • Establishing and building professional standards to solidify lived experience peer support as a serious profession.
  • Serve as a sustainable, inclusive space for learning, advocacy, and growth.

Who is this for?

If you’re part of the LGBTIQA+ community and work in a designated lived experience or peer role (paid or voluntary), this space is for you. We warmly welcome and prioritise diverse intersectionalities within our community.

The CoP is a unique opportunity for you to:

  • Gain practical strategies and meaningful knowledge that supports professional development.
  • Build relationships with peers, creating a strong sense of community and mutual support.
  • Engage in professional development and capacity-building activities with guest speakers who bring invaluable expertise.
